Adding Light Using Gradients

Open any image you'd like to add light
and more color to. I choose this money background found on a
Comstock CD. We will add more color and additional light to
this image. |

| 2 |
|
In
the Layers panel click the yellow folder icon at the bottom
to add a new layer. |
| 3 |
|
Select the Rectangle tool and draw
a rectangle to cover the canvas. |
| 4 |
|
In the Fill panel choose Linear, and
the Preset gradient color set of Emerald Green. |
| 5 |
|
Select the Pointer tool and select
the gradient layer, the gradient handles will appear. This is
what it looks like so far. You can't see the money but don't
worry about it. |

| 6 |
|
Notice the light in the original image.
It appears to be coming from the top left corner. Let's adjust
the gradient to that angle. Click and drag the round gradient
handle to the bottom left corner and move the square gradient
handle to the top right corner as seen here. |

|
In the Layers panel set the opacity
to 60%, the opacity setting is at the top left corner, press
Return/Enter to accept the opacity change. The Layers panel
looks like this. |

The finished background image is seen
here. |
